Meet Our Teachers!

Katie O’Brien, Head Teacher

Katie has been pivotal to the Village Playspace’s Enrichment Programs. She helped develop and kick off our Drop-Off Programs and Enrichment Classes. She leads our assistant teachers and creates all our lesson plans for Play School, Day Camps and Summer School.

Katie has 10 years of experience as an infant and toddler preschool teacher. She has taken the past few years off from working in a classroom to spend time with her 4 year old son.

We are thrilled to have her in our Village. Our kids love her and yours will too! 

Monthly Date Night Drop Off

Take a well-deserved break and enjoy a night out while we take care of the little ones! Our Date Night Drop-Off events offers a fun-filled evening for your children in a safe and engaging environment. For 3 hours, from 5:15 PM to 8:15 PM, your kids will enjoy a pizza dinner and variety of activities, including arts and crafts, interactive games, and open play.

Our experienced staff ensures that your children are well cared for while you relax and unwind. It's the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy some time to yourself or with a loved one, knowing your kids are having a great time too! Go ahead and make those dinner reservations or say yes to those adult only events. We won't cancel on you, we will keep the kids fed & entertained and best of all, the kids can go straight to bed. 

Just drop them off with a water bottle, necessary meds (and dr. prescribed emergency action plans for an epi pen, inhaler, etc.) and and extra set of clothes. 

You may pack a snack/dinner if you feel more comfortable if your child has a food allergy. Please remember, we are a nut free facility.

We limit date night to 16 kids with 2 instructors on site. Spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance. We can't wait to see your little ones for a night of fun at The Village Playspace!

  • We took advantage of their January date night out. My four year old had so much fun. She was so engaged she barely noticed us leaving, and was sad to leave at the end of the night. Weeks later she’s still talking about it! My husband and I loved that we could finally have a date night together, and we’re hoping to do it again in the future.

  • They just let the kids do whatever and didnt micromanage. So many places like this have 'lifeguards' that float around scolding children for doing things incorrectly. Also a slide with some oomph is nice. Things were clean too, I liked that. Snacks and drinks for sale was great. We didnt need it at our class, but its nice to have that option. Also everything was very clean. Ooh! Big one! Big big one! None of your toys were battery powered! You have no idea how much of a relief that was!

School’s Out Day Camps

No school? No problem!

We have you covered (for 3 hours, at least!)

Our Schools Out! drop off camp is for 2–8-year-olds. This 3-hour camp will include snacks, crafts, free play, sensory activities, and tons of fun!

We are also offering cheese pizza lunch for an additional $5 if your child is staying for lunch.

Playschool Drop Off

This is a once a week drop off class for 2–4 years-olds to prepare for the preschool environment. The class consists of a story time, group activity or craft, a separate music class (when offered) and then open play.

Weekly, Wednesdays from 9 - 11:30AM

This program is set on a 4 week schedule and requires a monthly commitment to ensure your little one maximizes learning and is able to progress throughout the program.

Summer Camp

School’s out for the summer? No worries, we’ve got you! (for 3 hours, at least!)

July 7th - August 28th, 2025

Our Summer Camp is for 2–8 year-olds. This 3-hour camp will include:

  • Weekly Themed Activities

  • Music & Dance

  • STEM Projects

  • Arts & Crafts

We will be offering an Early Bird Discount if you register before 3/31/25. We may offer a camp week in June prior to Summer Camp starting if the demand is high enough. Please let us know if you’re interested.

State Guidelines & Licensing Notes 

 

The Village Playspace, LLC is an independent, privately-owned business. We are not licensed by the MA Department of  Early Education & Care or any other state agency.  

Occasional Child Care: According to state guidelines each child may not attend without a parent/guardian in the building more than 4 hours a day and no more than 6 days per month. 

Instructional Classes: Unaccompanied children attending classes must be properly registered for the class and retrieved at the end of each class period.

Our Summer Camp complies with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and is licensed by the Medford Health Department.
